No Place Left · Prisons USA

Inmate-led churches multiplying in every jail and prison in America, until there is no place left.

Not ministry delivered to inmates from the outside. Movements owned by the men and women inside, and fueled by free-world coaches who equip them without controlling them.

people are behind bars in America tonight, in state prisons, federal prisons and local jails. Most of those units still have no multiplying, inmate-led church-planting movement.

This ain't your daddy's prison ministry

A fresh approach to prison ministry.

If you have served in prisons, you know how much faithful work happens through chapels, services and volunteer programs. This builds on that, with one difference that changes everything: the church is planted inside, and it reproduces without us.

What God is doing

Stories from inside the walls.

Ten years ago, a small effort to train inmate believers with simple biblical tools began inside the Texas prison system. Today entire prison cultures are being transformed by the Gospel, and the work is spreading across the country.

Texas · Coffield Unit

The largest prison in Texas

Once one of the most dangerous maximum-security prisons in the country, where officers feared for their lives and inmates begged not to be transferred. Within two years, more than 1,000 men were baptized and over 300 inmate-led churches were meeting weekly in nearly every living area.

Texas · Death Row

A song at 5:00 a.m.

Two trained inmate believers began sharing the Gospel. Today six inmate-led churches meet daily, and over 150 of the roughly 200 men there are Spirit-filled believers. Every morning, Amazing Grace echoes through the chambers. Of the last 30 men executed, 25 died as disciple makers who knew Christ.

Texas · Solitary confinement

Darkness into light

100 men in solitary were baptized in nine months. An Aryan Nation member, covered in tattoos of racial hatred, stepped into the water. The man baptizing him was a Black brother who had led him to Christ. When he came up, the two embraced.

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

There is a John Mance in every jail and prison in America.

A baptism inside a unit.

John sat in an Oregon county jail with calluses on his knees from praying on concrete. No program found him. One free-world volunteer requested his name, listened to him, and handed him a vision.

Within months, guards who hadn't allowed a baptism since before COVID carried tubs of water into the yard. He baptized fifteen men, commissioned them as the Church of Conviction, and trained his successor through an air vent before being transferred to the largest prison in Oregon, where he is planting again.

What's missing is not a program, a curriculum or a budget. It's outsiders willing to go find him, and then get out of his way.

The strategy

Insiders lead. Outsiders equip.

The New Testament pattern, applied inside the walls: a Spirit-empowered movement led from within, with free-world coaches serving as catalysts.

Insiders

Inmate leaders

Complete the NPL 4-Fields Academy on prison tablets. Make disciples, start house churches and multiply leaders across their unit, then carry the movement with them when they transfer or are released.

Outsiders, that's you

The 4 Fields, in a cellblock

NPL practitioners already know these tools. Here is what they look like when the harvest force lives on the unit.

Field 1

Entry

Believers find persons of peace in their pod, dayroom and work crew, where relationships already exist.

Field 2

Gospel

Simple, reproducible Gospel presentations shared bunk to bunk, 24 hours a day.

Field 3

Discipleship

Discovery Bible Study and short-term discipleship: one passage, simple questions, everyone equal at the text.

Field 4

Church formation

Baptized believers form simple churches that meet daily in the living areas.

Center

Leadership

Leaders raise leaders, so the church survives lockdowns, transfers and releases.

The NPL 4-Fields Digital Academy is being uploaded to prison tablets nationwide through the Edovo platform, reaching over one million incarcerated men and women in English and Spanish. Free World NPL Prison Coaches are the human bridge that turns digital training into physical movements.

Through the Digital 4-Fields Day Room Series, we track inmate engagement unit by unit across the country. That means a new coach doesn't start cold. You are connected to men and women who are already working through the training and asking for someone to walk with them.
